Bio

As the Interpretive Education Associate, Paige coordinates a variety of activities at the Wells Reserve, such as school and public programs that focus on the importance of conserving wild landscapes. She also coordinates the wonderful volunteer naturalists, or docents, that lead many programs on the 7 miles of trails. Other activities include working on special events, improving the education resources, and assisting with professional development trainings. Paige also leads programs regularly, which is one of her favorite activities.

Paige began her career in experiential education and interpretation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While in college, she became a volunteer naturalist at Oxley Nature Center and led elementary students on the trails. After moving to Maine to complete a B.A. at College of the Atlantic, Paige became a Registered Maine Guide in sea kayaking and has guided people in the Gulf of Maine since 2004. After graduation, she worked as an educator at Stone Environmental School of New England until transitioning to the Wells Reserve. The most rewarding aspect of her job is seeing people get outside and enjoy themselves while renewing connections between themselves and nature.

What is your choice of mascot for Wells Reserve and why?

The visitor is my choice of mascot for the Wells Reserve, as they support our mission and build a better community and person with each visit.

What is your favorite place at Wells Reserve?

The panoramic view from the Knight Trail is my favorite place. Not only does the 360 degree view fill your senses, but I am also filled with a sense of wonder and possibility. The animals enjoy it too; coyote, porcupine, fox, nighthawks, kestrels, barn owls, turkeys, and so on.
