Presented by: Integration and Application Network
Sponsored by: Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve and University of New England
Location: UNE Biddeford campus, Decary Room 207

IAN_communicationCourse objectives are:
1. To build the capacity of Maine scientists, science translators and
outreach professionals to communicate complex scientific concepts and
information to decision makers, policy makers, business and community
groups.

2. To develop key science messages shared across government, academia,
environmental management and conservation organizations and
communicate those messages in an integrated, coherent and powerful
way. (An example of this would be the development of ecosystem report
cards to report status and trends of key environmental factors)

3. To facilitate community based social marketing, collaborative
problem solving, public participation and environmental communication
through the development and communication of key science concepts
understandable by diverse audiences.

4. To build multimedia skills of scientists desiring to translate
research results to practitioner and policy maker audiences working in
disciplines other than their own.
