Dr. Ben Gutzler received his PhD in marine biology from the University of New Hampshire, masters in marine biology from Old Dominion University, and bachelors degree in biology from Willamette University in Oregon. His areas of interest include general ecology and natural history, decapod ecology, how climate change may impact fished crustacean populations, and the development of new techniques for studying and understanding animal behavior in the field. Ben has worked in the Gulf of Maine, the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and elsewhere. He has been visiting the Maine coast since infancy and, if left unattended, will happily spend an entire day exploring a tidepool.
Ben supports our National Sea Grant American Lobster Initiative projects and other research programs.
