Join us as the American Chestnut Foundation (TACF) screens its new, award-winning documentary, Clear Day Thunder: Rescuing the American Chestnut. The film documents the history of this iconic tree and why so many people have worked so hard for so long to return it to the forests it once graced, from Georgia to Maine. The films runtime is 52 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Tom Klak from the University of New England in Biddeford and members of the Maine Chapter of TACF. You can watch the movie trailer here.

While TACF and its partners work to develop a blight resistant chestnut suitable for forest restoration, the Maine Chapter of TACF continues preserving the genetic diversity found in Maines surviving wild chestnuts. Maine has more surviving wild chestnuts than any other state in its range. This all volunteer organization tends chestnut orchards, maps wild trees, plants and harvests nuts, and stewards trees to preserve their genes for future restoration. Join us to learn more about this effort and how you can get involved!
