Summer Camp Staff Are On Board!

Posted by | June 19, 2018 | Filed under: News

Last week, the Reserve's two summer camp educators arrived for the season and hit the ground running! They are enthusiastically planning for the twenty-four days of camp they will be facilitating for children ages 6-15 these next few months. Yesterday, I asked them what they are most looking forward to this summer, and also where their favorite place to be is at the Reserve and why. This is what they said:

Amanda Bailiff, Summer Camp Coordinator:

  • I look forward to spending another summer in Maine on the beautiful southern coast. I enjoy getting to be outdoors teaching children about the natural world and ways they can help conserve it.
  • My favorite place to be at the Reserve is the farm campus because I like to see people enjoying the historical buildings. And, it's teeming with wildlife. All you have to do is look and listen.

Cassie Cain, Summer Camp Assistant:

  • I am looking forward to learning something new everyday at the reserve with the campers and spending my summer outside. I can't wait to share my own interests about the environment like plant and tree identification, or learning about threatened animal species in Maine with everyone.
  • My favorite place to be at the Reserve is Laudholm Beach, watching the piping plovers.

Although the first two weeks of camps are filled to capacity, all the others have space and scholarship funds are still available as well. Pre-registration is required. We hope to see you soon!
