Paving and Stormwater Management
Latest Update: November 20, 2023
The parking lot is complete.
Background
Most paved surfaces on the Laudholm campus of the Wells Reserve were initially surfaced in the late 1980s or early 1990s, not long after the reserve was established. Periodically, small sections have been repaired, but much of the asphalt is deteriorating and needs to be rebuilt.
In addition, stormwater runoff in the campus core makes small streams of some paved walkways. When frozen these paths become unsafe.
After study and consultation, a multiphase project has been designed that will extend into 2024. The planning includes minimizing impacts on visitors.
Phase 1
The main public parking lot will be repaved. The public entrance will remain open, but parking patterns will change. Directional signs will indicate parking areas and access routes. Construction will occur from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A stormwater drainage swale where the entrance walkway connects to the parking lot will be retrenched.
Updates
This multifaceted project is more complex than it may appear. We ask for patience and flexibility whenever construction is in progress. Please respect directional signage for parking areas and foot traffic. Thank you.
